AN OVERVIEW OF HYDRAULIC WELL CONTROL (HWC)

Hydraulic Well Control is a global company with continuous operations in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM), West and North Africa, South America, and throughout the Middle East Region. HWC typically performs approximately 200 snubbing and work over jobs each year with more than 250 highly trained, safety driven, professionals working worldwide.

From our Headquarters located in Houma, La. USA, we provide full operational support, training, management and technical support. HWC Headquarters also has capabilities for machining, manufacturing and fabricating items and equipment necessary for supporting our local and global operations. Also located in Houma, La. is HWC’s training facility, including a test well. This provides hands-on training across a wide range of situations, including live and dead well conditions, snub drilling, re-entry techniques and safety training for our employees, suppliers and clients.

Globally, HWC’s fleet consists of 28 HWO (hydraulic work over) units and 4 hot tap/valve drilling units. The HWO units are of multi-cylinder hydraulic jack design ranging from 120,000 lb to 460,000 lb lifting force with snub forces from 55,000 lb to 226,000 lb, respectively. Our larger units are designed with 11” and 15” thru bore capabilities. To add to their versatility, HWC’s HWO units are equipped with a rotary table, eliminating the expense and danger of power swivels.

HWO units are currently being used for sidetrack re-entry drilling applications. In 2004 we drilled re-entry wells in Egypt, Dubai and are currently outfitting a unit in the Congo for a re-entry drilling project with a large major producer. Additionally, we have modified our existing large units to be capable of handling major P&A projects. These units, in conjunction with our platform skidding systems, offer a viable and economical alternative to traditional P&A packages.

To keep up with our clients and their challenges in the deep water arena we have engineered and designed, along with a sister company, a system which allows an HWO unit to be fully compensated while performing snubbing and/or work over operations on a floating production structure.

Globally, HWC is well positioned to safely handle your HWO needs, from emergency wells to traditional workovers, 24 hours a day – 365 days a year.
